Can I ask advice pleas

My partner had bladder cancer G3/T3 and his bladder removed in March 21.  The histology showed one lymph node involved and in July 21 we were told that a PET scan showed cancer in the throat.  Diagnosed as bladder cancer.  Then a CT and MRI showed not only a 4 cm throat cancer but pelvis, lung and liver.  No operation available.  He has last week finished 5 days of radiotherapy on throat cancer and started Tecentriq immunotherapy.  The pelvic pain is now very bad and a very immature GP told us over speaker phone it will get worse.  The pain in the side of his head is less after starting pain meds for nerves.  So today we started 1 ml of morphine but it was not enough.

I think this is going downhill very quickly and I'm heartbroken that my sweet man is going through this.  I need to know how long he has so I can plan, help him.  He lost his voice about 5 weeks ago.  Can anyone give me the brutal truth.

  • Hi Bellathelab,

Firstly welcome to Cancer Chat although I'm so sorry to hear about what brings you here and the situation with your partner. This sounds incredibly difficult and it sounds like it's all happened quickly so is no doubt a shock.

Unfortunately it's very hard to advise on his situation - it's only really his specialist / medical team who can do this. They will be best placed to give you the information you need, specific to him. Do discuss any questions with them as soon as you can, as it's important that you're fully informed.

If you'd like to talk to someone for support, our nurses are available on 0808 800 4040 (Monday-Friday, 9-5) - although please note they also won't be able to advise specifically to your partner.

We are always here for support if you ever need it, and I hope you find the forum useful. It can be helpful to reach out to others, or even simply to write things down.

    Wishing you all the best,

    Ben
