  • Hello Julip

I'm sorry to hear that your Dad has prostate cancer. I'm sure it's been a difficult time for you all.

The side effects of radiotherapy can vary from person to person and it's worth keeping in mind that even after treatment your dad may experience some problems for a few weeks.

In terms of creams etc, the radiographers at the hospital should monitor his skin and advise on the most appropriate creams to manage any skin issues. It's likely that your dad will feel more tired as the treatments go on so it may be worth thinking about making sure that he has food he can easily reheat rather than having to prepare and cook food if he's feeling tired. Or perhaps offering to help with household tasks if he's finding something difficult over the next few weeks.

Hopefully, he won't have too many problems and the next few weeks will pass smoothly. If you want to speak to one of our nurses at any point you can call them on 0808 800 4040, Monday to Friday 9 am to 5 pm.

    Best wishes,
