Mum having difficulty controlling bowels

Hi. My mum has Endometrial Cancer..she is aged 88.

She has a catheter & the constant feeling of needing a poo. I know there isn't any complete science or a definite progression of Cancer but can anyone tell me what to expect roughly. We are very open...nothing scares us...but trying to control bowel with Laxido then she explodes and has no control. She has pain across her back which she says tells her she needs a poo. When she had her hysterectomy 2 years ago the cells scattered into her abdomen...so I take it it will attack wherever it fancies.

Just need to know what to expect really...and I know...not everyone the same. Just in case anyone has had a similar Cancer.

Thank you.

Clair

  • Hello ClairM,

I'm sorry to hear about your mum's situation.

Hopefully others who have gone through a similar experience either as patients or carers for those with cancer will come along shortly to chat with you and give their opinion as talking with those who can relate to our problems does seem to help.

The other thing I want to mention is that I noticed you already made a post which received a reply from one of our nurses, however if you feel like you have more questions as you and your mum go along, do give the team a ring if you think speaking with them might help. The nurses are available on this free phone 0808 800 4040, Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m.

Best wishes to you and your mum,
