How to support my wife after bowel resection

Hi folks,

I'm new to the forum. My wife is due to have a large polyp removed from her lower bowels next week - she needs a resection as its embedded itself into the bowel lining.

The reality is starting to kick in and I want to make sure I can support her as best I can, but haven't yet found any idiots guides or lists of ideas and i'm struggling on practical actions. Am hoping you may have some ideas or experiences you can share on:

Any suggestions / meal plans of stuff that will def be ok for her to eat (assuming she doesn't need a bag)?

Any ideas on things I can do or get in advance to make her more comfortable when she gets back from hospital?

Thanks so much in advance!

  • [@JulianD]‍  Thats great news! It must be such a weight off your mind. It may not be 100%, but its still a functional life. I'm realising more and more just how important it is to make the most of our time and not be slaves to a corportate machine etc.

    Wishing you all the best!

  • [@Ineedabreak]‍  I hope this gets through this time, as i replied, but it doesn't seem to have uploaded properly...

How fantastic to get positive news. My fingers and toes are crossed for you.

My wife's now back and trying to get into running again to try and make a 5k, plus has just managed a 1.5hr commute each way into London for work, so really big steps for her and her confidence and getting back to 'normal'. She's up and down with getting through the night undisturbed, but its a small price to pay for how well she's recovering overall.

Wishing you all the best on your journey!

  • Hi

    Sounds all positive news.

Lovely to hear, the work commute sounds abit of a pain though.

All the best, keep in touch.
