My mum has throat cancer

Hi everyone hope your all doing good . My mum has got T3 throat cancer I'm her only help but I work 23 hours a week and I'm just need to know if I can take time out to care for her while she's having Treemont she's not having chemotherapy but she's having radiotherapy she's got to have 7 weeks of it and we been told how unwell she's going to be she got to have a peg put in to help with eating and drinking. She is 70 and she so scared that I won't be able to be there for her as I won't have enough money from work as I have a family with a 11 year old son who is ADHD . So if anyone can give me any help or links for information that will be very helpful. I really don't no where to start thank you

  • Hi Emma and welcome to the Cancer Chat community.

Hopefully some of our members who have been in a similar position when caring for their loved ones will share their thoughts and experiences with you soon but whilst you wait it may be worth having a look through your employment contract and having a chat with your work about your mum.

The cancer charity Macmillan may be able to offer some input on your situation but I hope this information I've found on the gov.uk website on time off for family and dependents will help as well. You could also trying seeking out information and advice from Citizen's Advice and Carers UK.

    Kind regards,
