Good News? Do clear MRI results mean my wife's in remission?

Afternoon folks,

I've not been online for a while, just been getting on with things and keeping an eye my Wife. Glad to say shes improving, put on weight, eating well (even with me cooking) and walking more each week.

Reason I'm here again is for some advice. Sue just had a third clear MRI, the Consultant called earlier with the good news. Its her birthday tomorrow so that was an excellent present. My question is this. Is my Wife in remission?

The various experts last September, when the whole problem was diagnosed, said Sue has a Grade 4 Glioma. This is inccurable but treatable. All treatment has been provided now, she has a three monthly MRI to assess her ongoing condition. Does three months of positive MRI results equal remission. Dare I hope for the unlikely that the cancer has been beaten.

I'm grateful for the past 9 months, just want that to go on, and on.

Any comments and advice will be gratefully recieved.

Thank You

Tony

  • That's such good news for you both, but for clarification call your cancer nurse and ask her. My husband has stage 4 lung cancer, four years on now but not curable. There is no stage above 4 so we were told it would always be there but I'm not a consultant just a wife living like you, in hope. Call and ask your questions, that's why they are there and they will have all your wife's details and can tell you what you need to know.  All the best, Carol

  • Thank you Carol, I did email the specilast nurses, but the reply was not definative, they only answered one of my questions not the point relating to 'remission'. I'll persist. Tony

  • Hi Tony, call them, that's what they are there  for, don't e mail as it all becomes too formal. Mine have been brilliant and always call back or speak to me. Write down your questions and go through them one at a time. Carol
