Immunotherapy

Hi, my father in law has stage 4 lung cancer, he's had about 5 rounds of immunotherapy, he is literally bedbound he sleeps ALL the time doesn't eat, has to be taken upstairs if someine is cooking as the smell makes him feel even more sick. Lucky if he's awake for more than an hour a day. He's so confused. Is any of this normal? I'm petrified he is dying vey quickly. Does immunotherapy make you crazy ill before you perk up or is something going drastically wrong here. Please advise. He has been to hospital but he was sent home after a night, he's lost 3 stone since January basically because he woint/cant eat. My family is feeling very useless and alone right now.

  • Hello Hello88

I'm sorry to hear about your father-in-law's diagnosis. Undoubtedly it's a difficult time for you all and it's understandable that you're feeling confused about what is to be expected as his condition worsens.

If you've not already spoken with the team responsible for your Dad's care please do give them a call. I'm sure they will be able to give you some advice and arrange some extra support if possible.

Alternatively, you can call our team of nurses on 0808 800 4040, Monday to Friday 9 am to 5 pm. I know that they will be happy to listen and offer any advice, information, and support that they're able to.

I hope that you're able to get the additional support that you all need put into place as soon as possible.

    Best wishes,
