Secondary Bone Cancer - Distraught

My father has been diagnosed with secondary bone cancer, that has progressed into his spine.
We are all mortified and don't know what this means next. Can anyone else who been through this help us understand what fight we are in for?

Thank you x

  • Hello SJP92

I'm sorry to hear about your dad's diagnosis. It's obviously a very difficult time for you all.

A primary cancer is where a cancer starts. Sometimes cancer cells can break away from the primary cancer and settle and grow in another part of the body and it's this new cancer growth that is called secondary cancer. Depending on where the cancer has started from will depend on what treatments may be appropriate for your Dad and I would imagine that the hospital is planning to do more tests to try and get more information.

Any cancer diagnosis can be devastating and it often helps to talk things through. I'd encourage you to give our team of nurses a call. I'm sure they'll be able to offer some advice, information, and support whilst you're all still waiting on more news. They're available Monday to Friday 9 am to 5 pm on 0808 800 4040.

Keep in touch SJP92 and let us know when you have more news and we'll try to help with further information and support.

    Best wishes,
