Bladder cancer

Hi, my dad got diagnosed almost 2yr ago with bladder cancer.. they told him it was terminal & couldn't offer any treatment due to sever COPD & the fact he can't be intrubaited (spelling)

he has just been told it looks like it's spread to his kidneys.. he's at the point of giving up

can someone please tell me the truth what do you think?
the docs only have him 6m when he was diagnosed

many thanks

  • Hello B3x5tar38

I'm sorry to hear about your Dad's diagnosis. It's understandable that he's feeling very low at the moment; it's obviously a very difficult time for you all.

It's impossible for me to say what kind of life expectancy your dad may have as things do vary so much from patient to patient. Any time frame given by the Dr's will be their "best guess" based on your Dad's overall medical condition.

I wonder if you might find it helpful to have a chat with one of our nurses. I'm sure they would be happy to give you some information to try and answer any questions you may have and offer you some support. If you'd like to talk with them they're available Monday to Friday 9 am to 5 pm on 0808 800 4040.

    Best wishes,
