Shock diagnosis

Hi, just a bit of advice plz, my hubby was, diagnosed in aug 2019 with bowel cancer, he was operated on and from there had a colostomy bag fitted, he was then told by his surgeon that he was cancer free and to enjoy the rest of his life...no follow up after that...fast forward to aug 2020, he had to have more surgery as we found after his 1 yr scan the cancer had metastasised in his liver so they had to take 75% of his liver away and his surgeon told him he was certain he had got it all, ....4 weeks ago he started having pain in his back and side and thought he had pulled it, this last weekend he was in so much pain I had to get an ambulance, they took him in 2 hrs later ...can you pick him up he can go......no pain meds just told he had a stone , (he can't have paracetamol due to his liver op) anyway I had to rush him back in on sun as he was qin agony, they at last gave him some oramorph, then a cancer nurse came and wanted to talk to us!!! She told us she couldn't let us go not knowing what they knew ???, his cancer has spread to bowel, liver, lungs and bones....why weren't we told by his surgeon or even his gp, that was Sunday, today is Thursday and still no contact..so we were sent home from a and e ,,smacked with that news delivered by a nurse...what's going on....we are out of our minds with worry, sorry if I have gone on a bit just needed to offload
