Nan has terminal cancer, when should I go and see her?

Hi, my nan has recently been diagnosed terminal, she has it in the lung, liver, kidney and pancreas. The Drs have had no success with a biopsy as my nan can't manage it. And I don't think she will be taking treatment as her bloods aren't good. Basically my question is, I am 700 miles away and have arranged to go there at the end of April. should I consider going before ? as with no biopsy there's no time line.

  • Hello chips74

I assume your nan is either in hospital or a hospice. Get in contact with Macmillan hospital or hospice, ask if they could organise  an I-pad or a mobile that has an app so you can chat to your nan. My lad bought my wife an I-pad, as the hospital was in lockdown.we brought my wife home for end of life carewhen she was diagnosed in mid June last year, she passed away 6 weeks later

Don't for get Chips74, April is only  a time scale. No doctor has the ability to predict a time.

Just sorry your nan has not got long, and my thoughts go out to you and your nan.

  • Hi Blobs,

Thank you for your reply. Yes she's in hospital just now, that's a great suggestion, I will look into getting her an iPad. I've decided to stick with the original date and be optimistic .

I'm sorry for what your wife and family went through, wishing you all the best.
