I can't believe I'm talking on here again.
In Dec Jan and Feb I had womb cancer tests, then the dreaded waiting game. which were clear. We were all so relieved and my husband, Graham(62) was my rock. Family and friends too.
I shared and talked with others on here, it so helped me then.
In Dec, G fell during the nught, didnt feel well so gp said its UTI antibiotics helped for a few weeks.then in late Jan early Feb, he was shivering, felt unwell, and started having episodes of being vacant, mixed up, tired and some speech word finding probs. In Feb, 2 GPs said he had an infection but dont know where so told him to book a chest xray, blood tests and take paracetamol at home, which he gad been for weeks already. I got him an xray 4 days later, all clear. Couldnt get bloods taken no appts for 2 weeks. I booked it but they couldnt fit him in before hus appthe was getting more confused had 25 episodes a day and more during the night too.. Im disabled G is my Carer and they didnt seem bothered about us at all.
I kept a list of all his symptoms, times, days all listed and gave these to my son to take to Gs bloods appt on Wed 3rd March and told him do NOT leave that building without seeing a doctor or getting an emergency appt for that afternoon!! He had also lost 15kgs.
The bloods nurse was excellent she could see how G was a struggling looked at the list and went yo speak to GP she came back with an apot for 2 hours later.
GP saw G and sent him straight to hospital after speaking with stroke consultant. At last thank god we thought.
At hosp they did test but couldn't get a time for him that day so sent hime home and they had to go back in for 8.30am next day, Thursday 4th March. Dic asked us to go up to get results of ct scan and bloods etc at lunchtime. Its a Brsin Tumour!!! 4cm, left tempral lobe and he had already spoken with Neuro surgeons at a large hospital 45 miles away. If its only 1 tumour and no more in body ghey will operate. Thats ehen our whole lives broke, we just wanted to go back to a UTI !! This isnt real, NO!!!
They did full body scan, theres just 1. Thank goodness. They kept G in for 2 days then took him to Neurology ward in Glasgow on Sat 6th Mar. The MRI showed 1 tumour. They operated on Tuesday 8th Mar and removed majority of tumour as blood vessel was attached and couldn't take it all out. Ok we can deal with this little bit.
He progressed over next few days, speech coming back better daily. Just hated being there by himself. Had to wait a week for big mtg and results.
On Wed 17th at the meeting we got the most unexpected news. We were dimb struck, they got 90% out, BUT there are small tumours all over his brain. It could be anytime. We were in a whirlwind, didn't know where to start. Cant sleep.
G got home on Friday and is recovering from his op. G has memory and confusion probs, his speech is better but cant find words. Hes exhausted, hes lost another 8kgs since going into hospital. Hes weak, still on pain meds. Its still an achievement for him, after 8 hours brain surgery he's still here with us.
Hes going to get Chemotherapy Tabkets 1 a day for 5 days then 3 weeks then repeat that every 4 weeks for 6 months as long as hes here. Hes a fighter!!
So Sorry for this so extra long post, I just wanted to share in the hope that someone else can see in horrific times, we can share on here help each other and there's hope.
