Boyfriend has cancer

Hi I am in bad need of advice please and don't know where to turn, my 41yr old boyfriend who I have only been dating for 10mths has been diagnosed with skin cancer he has only just found out so still lots of tests and things and I'm driving him to all his appointments which are upto 2hrs away I love him so much and I just need to know how I support him and how can I look after myself and my kids as well as his kids all at the same time. I lost my mum and auntie to lung cancer 2019 and my nan Nov 2020 to lung cancer so all I can see is the worse happening and its breaking me and my autistic daughter but we can't tell him as he has enough to worry about xx

  • Hello StephB42

Welcome to the forum and I'm sorry to hear about your partner's diagnosis. It sounds like you're already doing an amazing job at being supportive with helping get him to appointments, taking care of both sets of children, and generally being on top of everything!

I'd encourage you to chat with your partner about how you're feeling. I'm sure that you'll find that you have shared concerns and emotions about things. It's so important at times like this to keep communicating with each other.

If you'd like to talk things through with one of our nurses you're most welcome to give them a call. I'm sure they will be able to give you some support and reassurance about things. They're available Monday to Friday from 9 am to 5 pm on 0808 800 4040.

    Best wishes,
