Metastatic thyroid cancer in both lungs

Hi my husband was diagnosed with papillary follicular thyroid cancer 4 months ago he has had a total thyroidectomy and neck dissection. Also RI at the highest dose due to extensive spread into lymph nodes , oesophagus and one lung .

we have recently found out the cancer is present in both lungs and his thryroglobulin levels are  very high with some antibody activity - I'm not sure what this bit is or means .

Anybody had a similar experience - ? Feels so worrying and exhausting although we are trying to be positive about treatment options .

  • Hello Ella48

I'm sorry to hear about your husband's diagnosis. It sounds as if it's been a difficult time for you both and it's understandable that you're worried and exhausted by things. It's not always easy to remain positive so I'm really pleased to hear that you're both taking this approach to things. It does help.

It can help to talk things through with someone and I wonder if you'd find it beneficial to have a chat with one of our team of nurses. I'm sure they would be happy to try and answer any questions you may have and offer any advice and support that they're able to. If you'd like to speak to them they're available Monday to Friday 9 am to 5 pm on 0808 800 4040.

Stay in touch Ella and keep us updated with how you're both doing.

    Best wishes,
