Hi, am sorry about your dads diagnosis. My husband is having chemotherapy for oesophageal cancer and we found the second cycle he had much worse side effects, so much so that he had to stop. For the third round they reduced the dosage, and now he is coping really well, hardly any sign that he is having treatment! Everyone is different, and every chemotherapy plan is different so just keep track of how he is, and dont leave it too long if he reacts badly. Its a tweaking type of situation to find what he can tolerate. Good luck to him, and this is a good place to come to for support for yourself too. Take care.
Thank you so much for your reply. Its such a worrying time isnt it.Hope you and your husband and doing ok and everything goes to plan for him
Hi going through 6hr chemo once a week along with radiotherapy 5 times a week. So I don't know how much help my reply will be as just finished my first session.
I agree with Daisy71. There are different types of chemo and each one effects every body differently.
I have only just finished my first week, my worst side affect was acid relux which turned out was due to the post chemo steroids. The cancer hospital were on it straight away. I was given a chemo card on the first day, which you have to keep on you at all times. It has advice and phone numbers that you can call anytime. One thing both radio and chemo said to me was do not suffer in silence, let them know straight away and they're amazing at sorting things out quickly for both myself and family.
Good luck to you both.
Thank you so much for your reply. I have to say the more Im on this site the more I am stuck by how courageous and brilliant the people are on it even with what they are going through...you all should be so proud of yourselves
