Mum is now 74 and had breast cancer back in 2018. After a lumpectomy she was due to start radiotherapy but was too ill so spent time in hospital with stomach infection. Then we discovered another lump in the same breast which resulted in a mastectomy on that side and chemo, which shd completed 6 out of 8 sessions before becoming too ill to carry on. Since then she's had lots of issues with stomach and flair ups of COPD infections.
In 2019 she had what Dr's called gastroenteritis and was treated in hospital for about a month.
The last half of 2020 she was once again having infection after infection and constant anti-biotics. Since Xmas shes barely eaten a thing, been sick all the time and coughing. She can barely walk now and has lost 2.5 stone and gone deaf in one ear weirdly.
Dr had been treating her for a gastro issue with more anti-sickness drugs, more anti-biotics, and lots of other things - but again but last week it all became too much so we insisted on a Dr's ppointment and blood tests. She's fading away before my eyes.
Blood tests back in 48 hours indicating high markers for ovarian cancer. Markers were 88 - Dr said - dont panic but it it may be OC. We'll get you into the Cancer referral again. He said there was nothing he could for the sickness until they knew if it was cancer or not.
So now we have an appointment on Monday to see the Gynae and the whirlwind begins once again. So many questions.
Is 88 a high reading? Is she too ill for chemo? Are all of these things her body giving up because the cancer's spread so far?
Any advice? Im speculating, worrying and unable to function properly!
