Helping a friend - stomach cancer

Hi all,

I'm not sure if this is the correct area to post so please feel free to move if necessary.

I found out last week that a friend of mine has been diagnosed with early-stage stomach cancer and will need to have most of their stomach taken out.  She lives in Germany and we communicate online mostly, but between the preparations for the surgery and the surgery itself, they won't always be in the best of shapes or best of moods so she will stay offline more.

This news has really knocked me for six.  I am really worried about my friend, but I feel absolutely helpless.  Can anyone suggest anything that I might be able to do to show my support for them?

Thank you.

I'm sorry to hear that your friend has been diagnosed with early-stage stomach cancer and will need to have her stomach removed.

Having a loved one who is close in such a situation is difficult enough. I can't imagine how much more difficult it is when this person is in another country, so I hope that chatting with others here who can relate will help you find ways to be there to your friend even though you can't physically be there.

Wishing you both all the best,
