Stomach Cancer Post Operation Chemo required - ADVICE PLEASE

Hi,

My 39 year old wife was diagnosed with Stomach Cancer - Adenocarcinma,  a week before Christmas. She has now had a partial gastrectomy operation and is recovering at home. Last week, the consultant informed us that she requires Chemo.

Can anyone advise what to avoid? What meds work? What should we expect after Chemo? etc..

Also, since the operation, her feet, arms and face has dry skin. What cream would you recommend?

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks.

  • Hi,

Ref your question about the dry skin. My husband has suffered from very dry and flaky skin including on his face and abdomen since his radiotherapy and chemo. The advice from the occupational health care team is either Cavilon Cream or Medihoney Derma Cream. I've ordered some Medihoney today hoping that will help. They also advise a natural body wash rather than soap to help skin condition.

My 55 year old husband has primary brain cancer, which is inoperable. So far he's had 3 chemo cycles, in tablet form, and he's been fortunate that the only noticeable reaction was tiredness, but I believe this can be different for everybody.

I hope the cream suggestion helps in some small way. Wishing you both well.

  • Hi Bloss,

Thank you for replying so quickly.

Thanks for suggesting the creams, I will look into it.

Sorry to hear about your husband but glad to hear he hasn't suffered too much from Chemo.

    All the best.
