My wife was told yesterday that her cancer was back and it had spread into her back and her lungs. Her original diagnosis was bile duct cancer, she has since undergone whipple surgery and six months chemotherapy, the oncologist has told her it is terminal and she has roughly three month's to live. I'm quite at a loss at the moment, the oncologist mentioned that one of the tumors in my wife's lung was causing her breathlessness and they could use radiotherapy to shrink it and help her breath normally, he then changed his mind and said he didn't think my wife was strong anough and recommended going straight to palliative care with the three month to live prognosis, my wife seems to have accepted this treatment, but I am wondering if the radiotherapy could have helped, I know her prognosis is terminal but surely any help such as radiotherapy could of prolonged her life a little, I've got so many questions going on in my head, the oncologist I must say said all the right words such as I'm really sorry, but we were in there 15 minutes, I had more questions I wanted to ask, but he stood up and showed us the door, obviously because it was new years eve, I'm now very numb and feel I need more answer's, how can I speak to someone about this without upsetting my wife, we had to wait four weeks for this appointment after initially being told the cancer was back, which I think is a long time, I don't want to sound like a moaning bitter husband, but I really feel desperate and need answers please.
