Hello everyone
Just looking for some advice maybe similar experiences from people so I can get a better insight.
My dad is 57 and has been diagnosed in August this year with throat cancer, it had spread to his lymph nodes before it was diagnosed and he has a huge tumour on one side of his neck. He has had 3 rounds of chemo and the consultant says it hasn't made much of a difference in shrinking it so they've stopped it decided to try radiotherapy next, which will begin on 21st Dec, they've said 2 weeks of radiotherapy to see if it will shrink
(they have stated from the beginning of diagnosis that it is inoperable and very unlikely to be cured as its very aggressive and developed very quickly)
Consultant also said he's putting a palliative care nurse in touch with us to manage his meds. In my mind all I can think is palliative=end of the road? Can anyone relate to a similar situation of theirs or a family member?
We have no idea what stage this cancer is or how things will go, I'm treating this as my last Xmas with dad incase it is! I feel his mental health is also detoriorating aswell as he lives alone and hadn't been out of his flat since March due to lockdowns and him already being high risk with other health issues like copd and heart disease.
Many thanks
