Chemo side affects

Hi

Wondering if anyone has had any experience of this

My partner 52 has myeloma with acute renal hes just come home from having a stem cell transplant  with his own cells

He had several infections whilst spending 3 weeks in hospital  due to side affects of the chemo his appetite had dropped off

Anyway he came home 5 days ago after getting the all clear

Since hes been home he keeps falling he  walks then stops looks vacant then sways and i know hes going to fall, whilst im holding him up he jerks and cant hold his own weight sometimes i guide him to the floor or sometimes it passes quicker and he comes round he almost seem like he loses consciousness in that second . He has no infection blood pressure and oxygen levels appear normal and sugar levels fine he is anemic and they think thats causing it but im not convinced .ive tried telling him to get up slower but that dosent always help hes not aware in that moment whats happening and is confused after he had cyclophosphamide has anyone else experienced this as im very worried

Thanks karen

  • Welcome to Cancer Chat Karen although I'm sorry about the difficulties your partner has been having since leaving hospital.

If you're worried do be sure to get in touch with his doctor or medical team again as they will be in the best position to advise.

Our team of cancer nurses will be available next week between 9a.m - 5p.m on 0808 800 4040, so you're welcome to give them a call to discuss this as well.

I really hope things start to improve for your partner soon Karen.

    Best wishes to you both,
