Looking after terminally ill son - has swollen legs and feet

My son is 34 and terminally I'll. Both his legs and feet are very swollen and hard which makes them feel heavy to move. He is receiving antibiotics through IV and tablet form as they are also invected. I wonder if this is due to all his medications, and treatments or a stage of end of life approaching. He sleeps most of the day, eats less and twitches a lot. My husband passed away last August, I cared for him. I think I know the answer but am afraid to think I won't have him for much longer. I am caring for him at home to.

  • Hi Den65,

I'm so sorry to read what you are going through at the moment, and have been through recently. I can only imagine how much of an incredibly tough time this must be. There isn't much I can say to advise from a medical point of view, only to suggest that it's always best to discuss these sorts of questions with your son's doctor/specialist to get their thoughts.

Aside from that, I know it may not be much but we are always here for support on this forum if you ever need it - or even just as a safe space to write things down.

Hopefully you have others around you also that you can speak to from time to time. Either way, there are also organisations such as Macmillan who can offer support.

    Wishing you all the best,

    Ben
