Mums diagnosis

Hi everyone

So, around 2 years ago my mum was diagnosed with liver and bowel cancer. She had surgery followed by intensive chemo treatment. This seemed to work and was given the "all clear" in March 2019.
She was having 6 monthly check ups which were going well until July 2020 when she was told that the cancer is back and in her peritoneal cavity, I think that's what it's called.
we are absolutley devastated. I've just had my first baby, my mums second grandchild and I feel like all of our worlds have been flipped upside down.
she is now having chemo every two weeks with targeted therapy and has just had a scan yesterday to see if it is working. She is waiting for the results.

I don't remember ever being told about the chances of this when she was given the "all clear" last time. We assumed it had gone. Done.

anyway. Thanks for reading.

  • Congratulations on the birth of your first child Meg although I'm really sorry this joyous time in your life has been filled with sadness. It must have been very tough to find out your mum's cancer has returned but I'm sure I speak for everyone on the forum when I say we'll all have our fingers crossed that the results of her scan will show the treatment is being effective.

I'm sure some of our members who have been on a similar journey with their loved ones will pop by for a chat soon but in the meantime I just wanted you to know we're thinking of you and sending our strength and support your way.

    Kind regards,
