Night sweats

Hello, my father has recently been diagnosed with stage 4 colorectal cancer that has spread to his liver. We're waiting for him to start chemo and we're told this is the only option he has left as the disease is incurable. There's not a lot I can do other than be there for him but one of the things he's really suffering with at the moment is night sweats which is making sleeping very hard. Is there anything anyone can recommend to alleviate the symptoms please? We're waiting  to speak to the cancer nurse tomorrow but any advice anyone has on this forum would be greatly received.
thanks so much.

  • Just wanted to say hello and that I'm sorry to hear about your father. I hope that the appointment with the cancer nurse was able to address your concerns. If you ever need to speak to someone, we have a team of nurses available from Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm. You can call them for free on 0808 800 4040.

    Best wishes,

  • Thanks very much. My father has now started to take paracetamol on a regular basis, he was refusing this until the nurse said he could! So I think that's at least helped him to sleep a bit better. We've been told that there's not much you can do about the night sweats and it's something that has to be tolerated! I hope the paracetamol will give him some relief to be able to sleep at night and also when he does nap in the day.
