Pancreatic Cancer. Stage 4. Chemo

My husband currently has a Driver. He is staying in hospice to manage pain. They have decided to take the driver out and give him the Patches? He does not start his chemo until 27th November. He is still eating very little and still losing weight. Do they ever change their mind about giving chemo? Hes too afraid to come home. Any help, advice. Greatly received.

I'm sorry to hear about your husband's diagnosis. It's good to hear that the hospice has been able to get his pain management under control and that treatment is due to start soon.
Sometimes the decision about what treatments may be suitable for a patient can change and this can be because the patient isn't well enough to tolerate the proposed treatment.
It's understandable that you're both feeling worried about things and I'd encourage you both to speak to the team at the hospice and your husband's Consultant about your concerns.
Alternatively, you may like to speak to one of our team of nurses. I'm sure that they would be able to offer you some advice and support. If you'd like to speak to them they're available Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm on 0808 800 4040.

Hi Alijam,

My Dad was diagnosed with stage 4 (terminal) he died 3 months after diagnosis. He had 2 rounds of chemo which made him weak and tired. Couldnt do anything but sleep. It didnt work he felt awful. And cancer had spread, unfortunately there was nothing else to do. If they think your husband is too weak they will not give it to him as it would make him feel even worse.
