Docetaxel for lung cancer - alternatives?

Hello,

My aunt is receiving third line chemo for lung cancer with docetaxel, only. Her second-line was platinum based, but her cancer (which metastasised to the bones) had progressed. Problem is, docetaxel is making her feel really really sick, every three weeks she ends up in hospital to have an injection after the chemo, but it doesn't really help. Does anyone know if there is another drug that usually replaces docetaxel? of course, considering she's already taken platinum. Thanks for your help!

  • I'm sorry about the difficulties your aunt is having with Docetaxel at the moment Kita. It must be very tough for her.

If the injection she's having after the chemo isn't helping with the sickness do be sure to let her medical team know as they may be able to adjust their treatment accordingly. This also extends to the Docetaxel so do get in touch with them when you can as they will be in the best position to let you know about alternatives for this chemo.

Hopefully some of our members will be along soon to offer their support and advice.

    Best wishes to you both,
