My husband has recently passed away with recurrent metastatic head and neck cancer despite two major operations Chemo radiation and finally immunotherapy. He had not eaten or drank for over 12 months and had to sleep in a reclining chair as he couldn't lie flat because of choking. My reason for posting is to tell you all he had a peaceful passing with a syringe driver but also to implore you all that if your loved one is going on a syringe driver make sure you have said everything you wish before this. My son was very upset that we hadn't warned him that Dad was likely to be nearly unconscious and unable to speak after he went on the driver. It was much better for my husband and very peaceful but make sure all you need to say is said before this happens!
