Husband is half way though Tonsil Cancer

Hi there guys,  my name is Adrienne and my husband David has just gone into week 3 of stage 1 tonsil cancer treatment,  he's to have 2 overnight stays for chemotherapy and then radiotherapy Mon-Frid 5 days a week. So we're 1 dose of chemotherapy done and just into week 3 of radiotherapy.  Hes hit a wall today, he's in so much pain with his throat he can't even eat lasagne and everything tastes horrible to him. Looking at the back of his throat its all white, were assuming there ulcers. Can any of u guys recommend something for numbing the pain or what to eat? Tried potato,  eggs, pasta but just doesn't want it. Thanks for any help or ideas?? Xxx

  • Welcome to Cancer Chat, Adrienne.

I'm sorry to hear that your husband David is experiencing discomfort with his throat when trying to eat.

With this in mind, I thought you may want to check this page from our website with ideas for soft diet meals that could make eating a bit more bearable.

As for numbing the pain perhaps it's better to speak to someone medically trained and ask for advice, in this case, our nurses may be able to give you some ideas. They're available on this number 0808 800 4040 - Monday-Friday, 9-5.

I hope this helps to make David feel a bit better.

    Best wishes to you both,
