Late stage endometrial cancer advice

Hi all

My mum has reoccurs t endometrial cancer that has formed in her lung as one large tumour and a number of small nodules. This has been managed by chemo radiotherapy and now she has been given tamoxifen hormone therapy to commence. She has been in an aweful amount of pain this past month and a scan has shown that a nodule has grown towards the lining of the lung and is causing pain.. Has anyone experienced a the effectiveness of hormone therapy? Does it normally work? They won't give her more chemo due to her age and covid. Her last consultation was over the phone and Jo family members were home to provide support and ask all the what if and how questions. I don't really understand how hormone therapy works especially if she has had a full historectomy. I'm so worried no pain relief is really working for her.. Has anyone had any experience re a good painkiller.. Thanks so much

  • Hi Kathymc and welcome to the Cancer Chat community.

I'm sorry about the pain your mum has been experiencing over the past month. It must be very tough to see her going through this.

Hopefully some of our members will share their advice and experiences with you soon but if you'd like to talk things through with one of our cancer nurses then do give them a call on 0808 800 4040, Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m.

If you have your mum's permission you could try getting in touch with her consultant to find out more as well.

I hope you're able to get some answers and your mum's pain starts to subside soon.

    Best wishes to you both,

    Steph, Cancer Chat Moderator
