Stage 4 and vomiting

My mum has stage 4 and the oncologist will not be continuning with treatment as she is not strong enough. She has been sleeping alot ever since she has a vomiting episode. I was not there, but it was described as coffee grain vomit which I understand is not good. She has been complaining about her head being heavy but is not in pain and can seem to sleep peacefully and she can describe it. Does anyone know what she might be going through?

  • Hello T123

I'm sorry to hear about your Mum's diagnosis and the news that the Oncologist feels treatment is no longer an option for her. I'm sure this is a difficult time for you all.

I'm uncertain from your post if your Mum is receiving any nursing care or if the palliative care team are involved. There could be lots of reasons that your Mum is feeling as you describe including side effects of any medication she has been prescribed. It's certainly worth speaking to the team responsible for your Mum's care about your concerns.
If you'd like to talk things through with one of our nurses you're welcome to call them on 0808 800 4040, Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm.

    Best wishes,
