Advanced lung cancer - confusion in mornings

We were heartbroken to find out in August my 80year old father has terminal lung cancer. His chest seems to be stable however he is extremely confused and particularly so in the mornings when he has trouble coming downstairs and getting dressed. Is this anyone else has experienced with older parents?

    So so sorry your going through this heartbraking time at the moment... it's really one of the hardest things we do in life...

    Everyone is different and I'm no expert... but his cancer just MAY have spread , making him easily confused ... this can also happen with cancer treatments .. they say it's "chemo fog" and causes confusion too ... I'd give his oncology team a call Monday.. and ask their advice as they know your dad's case ... or  call Marie Currie... they are there for terminal illness and their families.... they may also be able to give you more practical help or advice ... let us know how you go ..     Thank you Chrissie for your words and advice. Sadly treatment wasn't an option for  Dad so we have ruled out it as being a side - effect of chemo. We do think it may have spread and wondered whether if it were a symptom of secondary brain cancer things would be worse in the morning. It takes him around 2 hours from waking to get dressed and come downstairs as he just sits at the end of his bed looking around. we help and check on him but it is very difficult to see.
