Terminal diagnosis. Support for family

Hi all

My dad was diagnosed with advanced stage 4 gastrointestinal cancer that has spread to lungs and liver at the beginning of lockdown. He has been doing well for the whole of the summer but has now started to deteriorate to the point we think he may be in his last weeks of life.

What I have been surprised at is the lack of information for those patients who are told there is nothing that can be done, no treatment options and its palliative care only

... it is a minefield for caregivers and family.

With this in mind, I wonder whether anyone would be interested in getting together on a zoom call. Maybe once a fortnight?

I am not a medical professional but I think if we can share ideas, thoughts and experiences surely we can help each other. Just wondering if anyone would find this useful as I think I would.

Just putting it out there. Thanks

  • Sorry to hear about your dad.

I totally understand where you are coming from, my mum is in her last weeks of life after being diagnosed with terminal bladder cancer 3 weeks ago, I have found it extremely difficult, it most definitely is a minefield. Sending you hugs
