Partner has stage 2 lung cancer and Cushing's Syndrome.

Hi All - just coming to introduce myself and maybe find some people to connect with. My partner who's 46 was diagnosed with lung cancer in June. It's a complicated kind, partly small cell but also with some neuroendocrine features. It's spread to two nearby lymphs. He's having 6 rounds of chemo (two more to go) and is about to start 4 weeks daily radiotherapy. His tumour is secreting something which has caused Cushing's Syndrome (excess cortisol) which has made him pretty ill since early this year so he's under endocrinology as well as oncology.

We have two boys aged 6 and 3.

It's been really hard. The cancer, the illness from the Cushing's and the chemo, navigating all this in the middle of lockdown with two small kids.

I'd love to connect with others who can offer solidarity with any of this! xxx

  • Thanks Steph! I was thinking I might try posting in here as a way of keeping a sort of diary as well as a way of connecting with others.

Today we made the decision to take the kids out of school and nursery for a while to try and get M safely through his treatment. He starts his fifth round of chemo on Monday and also starts 4 weeks daily radiotherapy. We're in a very high risk covid area and it just seems mad to be sending the kids out to mix with loads of ppl when M is so vulnerable. So I'm going to stop work and we're back to lockdown. Gutted but know it's the right thing.
