Chronic nausea after lobectomy

Hello. My mum had a lobectomy in July and has suffered chronic nausea ever since. She is taking 3 anti sickness tablets each day but I was wondering if anyone else has experienced the same feeling and what treatment helped. I've spoken to the doctors/hospitals but they can't seem to get to the bottom of it. Any advice would be appreciated :)

  • Welcome to the Cancer Chat community Rosie although I'm very sorry to read about the chronic nausea your mum has been suffering from since July. It must be very tough.

We have some general information about nausea on our website just here but it may be worth giving our cancer nurses a call. If you'd like to get their thoughts on this you can contact them on 0808 800 4040, Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m. Hopefully some of our members who have experienced this will offer their tips and advice to you soon as well.

I really hope a solution can be found and things start to improve for your mum soon Rosie.

    Best wishes,

  • Thank you Steph. I've had a look at your website and there's a lot of useful information. I have a travel band so I've put it on my mums wrist. Everything is worth a try. :)

  • I am suffering the exact same symptoms it’s awful I constantly feel sick and all of a sudden literally turn green and have to vomit

  • Hi Viksta and welcome to Cancer Chat.

As this discussion hasn't been active in over 4 years, I just wanted to stop by to say hello and to let you know that your post has been seen.

I'm really sorry you're experiencing the same symptoms as RosieK1, but I do hope you can take some strength, and comfort, from knowing that you are not alone. If you haven't done so already, do let your medical team know about this as they may be able to provide you with some medication that can make this more manageable.

If you take a look at the link I provided in my previous post, there should be some tips and advice that may help you with your nausea but if you'd like to discuss this further with one of our cancer nurses, they are available on 0808 800 4040, Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m. They're very easy to talk and will do all that they can to help.

    Kind regards,
