My Mum

Hi Everyone,

I was just after a bit of advice if anyone can help.

Mum was diagnosed with terminal lung cancer back in Feb, she was offered chemo to prolong life and give her a bit more time but due to Covid-19 that was cancelled. Things have progressed quite quickly and I feel we are moving into a new stage. Mum has been quite bright in herself she can't do very much due to her struggle with breathing and pain. Over the past couple of days the pain has considerably increased and the medication she takes isn't doing anything (Oramorph, Zomorph and Amitriptyline) plus others. I think it is referred to as breakthrough pain at this stage. Has anyone been through anything similar? I will call our care team on Monday. It just makes me sad to see Mum in so much pain. Thank you

  • Hi gill666,

Welcome to Cancer Chat. I'm so sorry to read about your Mum and everything it sounds like you've been through over the last few months. I can only imagine how incredibly difficult this must be.

I know it's now been a couple of days since you posted, so hopefully you have been able to speak to the care team and got their thoughts on this. They are of course best placed to advise specifically to your Mum.

If anyone here has any similar experience to share, hopefully they will be along soon.

Do continue to use this forum as much as is helpful for you at any point - we're always here for support.

    Wishing you all the best,

    Ben
