chemotherapy and pain

Hello,

My aunt has lung cancer that spread to the bones in January 2020. She has had one course of radio and chemotherapy, which controlled the cancer in her lung, then they tried immunotherapy, which didn't work and her cancer spread to her bones (spine and hips), so she went back to radio and chemo, which had positive results. But after three rounds of chemo, the cancer in her bones started growing again, and now she is undergoing another course of chemo, but no radiotherapy. After her first round, it seems that she's been having really severe bone pain so I was wondering if this is a sign that her bone cancer is growing, despite the new chemo? Another question is, given that the last course of chemo did not work, does it mean this new one is likely not to work either? I know no one can say anything for sure, but it would be helpful to know your thoughts. Thanks!

  • I'm sorry your aunt's cancer has started growing again but fingers crossed the chemo can keep it at bay.

As none of our members have got back to you yet I wondered if you may like to discuss this with one of our cancer nurses? They may be in a better position to help so if you'd like to give them a call they're available Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m on 0808 800 4040.

If you have your aunt's permission you should be able to discuss this with her medical team as well.

    Best wishes to you both,
