Dad recently diagnosed

Hi I came across this website whilst googling success stories with stage 4 lung cancer. My dad is 63 and was diagnosed last month with metastatic lung cancer which has spread to liver and bones. Such a shock because the week he was diagnosed he was still in full time work. We have been given 2 short months left with dad, he has refused chemo as he wants his last moments to be free from the horrible side effects of chemo. Does anyone have any remedies for hiccups? Also did anyone get any longer time with the above diagnosis?

  • Hello Rebecca

I'm sorry to hear about your Dad's recent diagnosis. I'm sure that it's been a great shock to you all.
It's not uncommon for patients to decline treatment when they are given a short prognosis and I hope that your Dad is able to spend lots of quality time with you all over the coming weeks.
Do you know if your Dad has been given a specialist nurse that he can contact for advice and support? If so then do give them a ring to ask about his hiccups. It may be that they're able to prescribe something to help. If he doesn't have an nurse then speak to his GP or leave a message for his Consultant.

If you'd like to talk things through with one of our nurses for some advice and support then you're welcome to give them a call. They're available Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm on 0808 800 4040.

    Best wishes,
