Throat cancer not gone

Hi

I'm looking for some advice, my mother is 59 and has been through  hell the last few months. Diagnosed with throat cancer in Jan 2020, had tonsils removed and biopsy, cancer was in the tonsil and lymph nodes. Had 35 sessions of radiation, was supposed to have 3 chemo but only managed two. This was finished jn April and she has just got pet scan results to be told they are bringing her back in for biopsy and camera test next week as it seems the lymph nodes and throat aren't clear.

We are worried sick. Please can anyone help me as to what the next step is? Doc did say this is not unusual but I havent heard of anyone being brought back in.

Thanks

  • Hello HereforMum

I'm sorry to hear that your Mum has been asked to go back into hospital for more tests following her recent PET scan. It's obviously upsetting that treatment hasn't cleared things as you had all hoped it would and understandable that you're all worried about what this may mean  for her.

I wonder if you might find it helpful to talk things through with one of our nurses? I'm sure they will be able to offer some advice and support if you wanted to call them. They're available Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm on 0808 800 4040.

Do let us know how your Mum gets on next week.

    Best wishes,
