Uncontrollable shaking

This evening my husband suddenly started shaking. His hands and feet felt cold. He didn't have a raised temperature. He could hardly stand even though he had been for a walk a couple of hours earlier. He took some morphine and paracetamol and after about fifteen minutes the shaking stopped and he went to bed.

 

Very scary and upsetting- I wonder what caused this. He has oesophageal cancer but was ok until this happened.

 

 Has anyone else found this happening and is there something I should do?

    I am sorry to hear about what happened to your husband. It must have been frightening for you to watch. It's good that the morphine and paracetamol worked and the shaking stopped but I think it would be a good idea to give your husband's consultant/specialist a call and asking what might have caused this and whether they have any advice on what to do if it happens again. 

    I hope that you will hear from others here who have experienced the same thing and that they will share their story with you.

    Hi there

    sorry to hear about ur husband

    I never experienced this in treatment but six months after radiotherapy it started shaking and also cold hands and feet 

    out the blue mine has been put down too anxiety and panic depression 

    and put on propanalol and sertraline 

    the propanalol seems to keep the shaking under control 

    I seen a thread some where on this site if u type in search shaking u may find it 

    there's was somthing completely different to do with meds I think 

    worth looking and checking out hope ur hubby feeling better and keep u keep us all posted good luck

    Hello there

     

     

    The hospice nurse thought it could be down to low sugar level as he was not able to eat.

     

    Today my husband has had his oesophagus stretched and two stents fitted. He is poorly at present but I am hoping  that it may help him to start eating again I a few days. He haslost a lot of weight and looks like the starving people we see on tv. Fingers crossed.

    My husband has IPF, he was diagnosed thie year after two years of breathing problems.

    yesterday we went to garden centre and so suddenley he started shaking and was extremely cold.

    The shaking was so bad he couldnt even have a drink.

    We rang for an ambulance as his condition was so extreme, but eventuall as they didnt arrive we managed to get him home and wrap him up to keep warm.

    This went infor a couple of hours and by the time the paramedics arrived he had settled down.

    Nothing was found wrong, exceot his temperatutpre was a bit higher than normal.

    They said take paracetamol. He felt sick the rest of the day.

    someone said to me it could be caused by going from a warm place out  in the cold and then in a warm place. With lung disease, thid can be the case possibly.

    Sorry to hear of your husbands illness, perhaps it affected him similarly. Xx
