In Feb this year my mum was diagnosed with stage 3B non-small cell lung cancer. The doctors have been very optimistic and are aiming to cure her. My mum had a scan in May after she finished her chemo and radiation at the end of April. The CT scan showed that her tumour had reduced by half. The doctor said that it's excellent news. She has a PET scan on Tuesday. I'm really scared, what if the cancer has progressed or has got forbid spread?
My mum is otherwise in good health and is very active and busy. Apart from an infection in her mouth (which may be due to immunotherapy), she feels very well. She started immunotherapy in June. My mum isn't worried about the scan, apart from the discomfort of having a PET scan.
I know that scans are normal and even when people are in remission they still have scans. My mum is 71 yrs/o. I wish I could stop worrying, but I'm a worrier by nature.
