Small Cell Lung Cancer

Hi there, my grandad was diagnosed with small cell lung cancer last year, he was told he only had 6 months to live, but has doubled the expected time. Recently he's had a couple of falls due to dizziness. Yesterday he had quite a bad fall while he was at his bowls club, he hit his head on the toilet and ended up splitting his head open. He got taken to hospital and was there for about 6 hours having scans done and they've found swelling on the brain, they think the cancer has travelled. They advised him to stay at hospital because he could keep having falls now and things could get worse, but due to coronavirus, he didn't want to stay in as he wouldn't get to see me or my mum. I was just wondering what the life expectancy will be?

 

Me and my mum are devastated .. we've already lost my nan and my uncle , a child and now my grandad is going too ..

 

Please tell me he has more time.

    Hi there. My mum had a few falls and signs of what I thought was a stroke at xmas. In jan she couldnt move her left side. We found out she had tumours, a month later showed she had small cell lung cancer. Last summer she had a lump in her neck and was fobbed off saying it was a rogue gland. She also had breast cancer in 2017. I believe her breast cancer spread to her lungs and the to her brain.  In jan after diagnosis she was told months with treatment. She rang the bell 2nd of June after chemo and radiotherapy and 22nd June she died. Dont let your grandad have treatment if its terminal, it makes them worse. If hes falling, the chances are its spread and would say a few months maybe weeks if that. On 21st june we were told she had days but day before she only had a UTI and still had months. It will come fast. I am so sorry. :( x

    I'm so sorry to hear about your mum . He's already had radiotherapy on his chest, but he didn't want the chemotherapy as he was told only 1 in 4 people come out the other side . 
     

    He's had a couple of UTI's too, is that normal? They're now saying he's got a brain anyurism (however you spell it), they've advised grandad to stay in hospital because they've said he can die on the spot at home out of the blue, but he wants to be at home with us. I'm so scared. 
     

    What was the end of life like? Was is quick and out of the blue, or was it a long drawn out process , I don't want him to suffer xx
