Feeling abandoned

my beautiful, wonderful mum has been diagnosed with lung cancer. We found out at New Years. We have now been told that as the tumour is in an awkward place it is untreatable, they cannot even perform a biopsy to confirm that it is definitley cancer (Drs are certain it is though) and because of this she cannot have Chemo to try treat it. Since we were told this the Dr has discharged her into the care of the community team at a local hospice and today they have contacted us to say there is nothing more they can do for her so they are now also discharging her.

I feel like we have been totally abandoned and basically like she has been left for the cancer to just take her.

I know the NHS are struggling and that there is genuinley nothing more they csn do right now but it is really scarey being left to it on your own.

  • I am so sorry to hear this. What an awful situation. I would recommend you ring the number on here and see what advice they can give you. There are lots of charities out there that can help you both during this awful time.

  • Hi [@Lpk2116]‍

I'm going through something similar, how is your mum in herself? I ask because my dad had a lot of treatment and honestly I don't know how well it has served him. It's made him so sick that I'm not sure what's worse, the cancer or the treatment.

anyway, cancer is the absolute most horrendous thing for a family to go through and I just wanted to say we are too and we understand your pain :( sending the best wishes,
