Desperate for answers

hi people,

I have posted before about kids dad, just I'm just stuck for advice and Covid has played a massive part in telephone calls only to him!
He was diagnosed with lung cancer around March as a ergent lung appointment after a scan, he had throat cancer in 2018 , radiotherapy for a month, got the all clear, then September 2019 spotted a lesion on the lung, they said it was only small and recheck in a year, then regular scan to keep check on the throat cancer, turned into the emergency appointment with lung doctor, they said it had grown from 3mm to 7mm or cm, I can't remember since the September scan quicker then they thought, and he was to have 3 zapps of another kind of radio (less intense then the throat)

I asked the doctor was it secondary to the throat and he said no, but I've always thought is cancer is somewhere else in the body then it's secondary?

So he had the 3 zapps mon/weds/fri in April, start of lockdown!
Since then his breathing has got worse, he has swollen ankles (down to heart) heart is only slightly working below normal range,

his had a ct scan 3 weeks ago, but when I've tried to chase results they can't find it,

his sleeping most of the time, no energy at all, and the last 2-3 weeks been suffering with extremely painful stomach, my head is saying the cancer is in his stomach area now, he can't go a poo proper, he thinks its down to where he had the peg, but surely side affects wouldn't be happening a year after removal? Once his been a toilet after tables and medication to help go, his in more pain!
je has another scan on Monday that he has to fast 3 hrs before, but his not sure what part of the body it's scanning!!
Very stubborn about going to see gp, I just find this all very hare as , he was told you have lung cancer, have the treatment and then his heard nothing!!! I've been looking after him because of lockdown, his just seems to be going downhill, I don't know what to expect next, I've convinced myself his dying

we have kids together and is sad they see him being like this, my mum has terminal cancer, she was diagnosed 7 years ago , it's been  bumpy road with treatment stopped working and trying a new one, but she just keeps fighting back (they give her 6-12 months) she's amazing!!
oh, and his swollowing is getting worse, he might be hungry but can only get half or less down? Is the the throat c is back or to do with the lungs?
so is he dying are these symptoms it's spreading more? Has anyone experience going through this or looked after someone??

my head it's just so frazzled by him and no results yet!!

please could someone say yes I've experience that, so I know it's not me,

sorry it's long, but nothing is ever short with this illness

thank you people and god bless xx

  • I'm sorry to read what you're both going through at the moment Crazyfamily. It sounds very tough.

Hopefully some of our members will offer their support and advice soon but whilst you wait I just wanted to give you our cancer nurses telephone number in case you wanted to talk things through with them. They're available on 0808 800 4040, Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m and are very helpful and supportive so do give them a call if you feel this will help you at this time.

I hope his scan went well yesterday and that you're able to find out more soon.
