My mum has just been diagnosed with MBC. Please can I ask how fast and how much treatments/appointments are involved? Will I need to give up work to take her and care for her?

It's only your mum's doctor or specialist who can advise on this, as every case is different - and it may also depend on factors such as your mum's hospital and waiting times.
Hopefully you'll be able to find out more soon, but do be sure to discuss any questions you have with your mum's specialist if you can, so you can find out everything you need to know to prepare.
