Hi, worried about iostomy reverse

Hi,

My husband was diagnosed with rectum cancer last year he had his oppration in April 2019

He was very ill and was in hospital for nearly one month. After few chemotherapy he had bad side effects that's why he was hospitalised again for 20days reason for that was his diabetic level went very high and then after it took few months to get back to normal

He was alright with stoma bag in beganing but after six months few complications leaking bag in nights he is getting fed up he was booked to have oppration to reverse ileostomy but because of Covid-19 lockdown it's was delayed.

Now he due to have oppration in August he was very happy until when he went for CPET test one of anesthesia he said thair lots of complications with this oppration he said worse think is where they join some time stool leacks inside stomach and it's very dangerous could Couse death.

I am very worried I just pray everything goes smoothly.

  • Hi Rosna and welcome to the forum.

I'm sorry your husband's reversal got delayed due to the pandemic although I'm glad to see he will now be able to have it soon.

If you or your husband have any concerns about this operation do be sure to talk things through with his doctor or medical team.

Our cancer nurses are available Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m on 0808 800 4040 if you'd like to chat to them about this as well.

We'll have our fingers crossed all goes well next month.

    Kind regards,
