A little late ... but I feel the same about Macmillan suppor

Sadly I feel I have to comment.

My mum was diagnosed with cancer in August 2019  and died within 4 months.

We repeatedly asked for Macmillan help -mum needed somebody to talk to who understood her diagnosis and anxiety. We as a family needed support.

Neither of these happened.
It seemed the Macmillan representatives were happy to  accompany consultants, oncologists etc but didn't have capacity to deal with the level of work that would have really  made the difference.

  • Sorry to hear that, Bertie xx

Have you offered Macmillan some feedback about this? I think they'd like to know about your experience.

This site you're on now (Cancer Research) is a really good site, which includes this forum. Feel free to come here whenever you want a chat xx

  • Thank you for replying.

I haven't offered feedback. I didn't know if I could or  if I should. I know we all see things differently from our own place emotionally, my views may be skewed because of this.

To be honest it has taken me a few months to adjust to mums diagnosis and then to losing her.

We dealt with it because we ran on adrenaline and it's only now I  realise  that 'real' support was lacking for her and for us.
