Post treatment PTSD

Hi all. My partner had stage 3A NLPHL - rare type of lymphoma and has been in all clear for nearly two years, after undergoing 6 months chemo and bio therapy. He's always been very introvert and not a very open person, but since his treatment he's really gone into his shell. He said tonight that he dealt with it well when going through treatment but said it's changed him, which I can understand why. He's very distant and not romantically inclined at all. Has anyone else experienced this and what help is on offer to him? Thanks x

  • Hello Chalky75,

Welcome to Cancer Chat. I'm sorry to hear about your partner but, as you say, you can't go though treatment without being changed in some way. There is some advice on caring for someone with cancer here, as well as the "Cancer and Emotions" sections, which I hope will help you understand more about the changes in mood that he may be going through. I'm sure you've been amazing in supporting him so far so keep communicating and look after yourself as well.

    Take care,

  • Hi Chalky

I'm 6 months post chemotherapy after 7 months of treatment  for non hogkins lymphoma. There are some good support groups out there I'm told not that I've found one yet due to covid and I think this verys from place to place plymouth is shocking .   I can relate to how your husband is feeling  I'm fighting the very same problem myself I cant explain how I feel to anyone as I don't know myself . It changes you in ways you just can put your finger on I get everyone is different but we all seem to experience the same effects. I've started to meditate this has helped a far bit when I can be bothered to do it if I'm honest .
