About me

I'm scared my sweet aunt is nearing her end days, but I haven't been able to see her as I'm shielding.she has aggressive lung cancer, she refused treatment, and doesn't want to go to a hospice against the nurses recommendation, she wants to die at home, she doesn't eat and had 2 sips of water a day,I'm fearfull she's in the last stages, she's confused, calling out for her son that passed 15yrs ago, asking to see him.but she has a few lucid moments, not many tho.is there a chance the high doses of morphine are confusing her?? And I am praying she makes it to Xmas, but am I being too optimistic, just advice on what to expect to see when she's close to dying.please help me learn and understand the dying process.
Many thanks

  • Hi Lovescar,

For some people death is instant, here one minute and gone the next. In your Aunts' case this may well be a very extended period. Certainly the high doses of morphine can have an effect on her mental state. The chances are that your Aunt will pass away peacefully and if you do get to see her regularly you will not see major changes. Suggest you pray for a peaceful end whenever that may be.
