Is it possible to outlive prognosis with no symptoms?

Elderly man of 90 diagnosed with stage 4 thymus gland cancer 7 months ago. No treatment offered due to the stage, age and health issues. Has underlying health issues type 2 diabetes being one.

No symptoms experienced related to the illness except normal aches and pains.

  • Hello,

l liken this this to how long is the piece of string in my pocket. Its definitely there, but how long would it take for anyone to guess the precise length..They call cancer the silent killer, well named as it quietly progresses through your body until it reaches the point of throwing itself off the mountain, when the downhill progression is rapid and irreversable. In this instance it seems that your friend is fortunate in that the cancers journey is not painful or giving bad side effects.l am led to believe that some cancers progress slower in older people and those with a slower metabolism, and would suspect this to be the case.

So yes it is possible to outlive a prognosis, but rarely to escape it,
