Spread

My wee mum who is 66 has been diagnosed with primary lung cancer which has spread to lung, liver and brain she is on an anti seizure tablet and dexamethasone I am speaking to the medics in her behalf because she is terrified the doctor told me last week that she had 6 to 8 weeks without treatment of 6 to 9 months with treatment of course it depends if she is strong enough  I told a nurse on Monday that we would like to speak to the doctor about treatment and she said she would message him but we have heard nothing since I'm terrified I keep imagining a clock ticking down one now mum has a terribly sore lower back  this started after she had a liver biopsy and had to lay flat for 7 hours afterwards she is eating and drinking just like normal but the back is really getting her down and nothing seems to help does anyone know if chemo does extend things or are we just clutching at straws TIA.

  • Hello Kezzy83,

As you have heard nothing back, it might be worth trying to get in touch with them again and seeing whether you can speak to that doctor about treatment. It might be worth also mentioning to the doctor your mum's terribly sore lower back as this seems to be causing her an awful lot of pain. Hopefully the doctor will be able to advise you further on this and she will be in less pain.

I hope that you will hear from others on the forum who have been in a similar position before and willing to share their experiences for example with chemotherapy.

As my colleague Steph mentioned in your other thread, if you feel you would like to talk to one of our nurses, don't hesitate to give them a call on  this free number 0808 800 4040, Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m.

Best wishes to you and your mum,
